Electronic Resources Round-up: American National Biography

Do you need to know George Washington’s birthdate? How Fred Astaire’s career got off the ground? Maybe you’ve been assigned to write a report on a prominent woman in a science or technology field and you’re not sure where to start. American National Biography can help.

Find it on the library’s webpage by clicking on the Research tab. Anyone can use it in the library, and city of La Crosse residents with a valid library card can access it from home or school, too.

Search tips: Searching for a name is as simple as typing it in the search box. However, you won’t get a result if the person you’re searching for is not an American, or is still alive. If you need to search by criteria other than a name, click into the Advanced Search box. You’ll see lots of options there.
