Historical Information

La Crosse City Directories
digitized version of several historical La Crosse city directories: 1870, 1880, & 1890. At this time there is no searching capability, only browsing of the directories.

La Crosse County History
written by La Crosse Public Library staff offers a brief view of the history of the county and the factors that influenced its growth.

Historical La Crosse Co. Maps
includes excerpts from the 1886 Wisconsin gazetteer and images of 1878 and 1906 of each township.

History Repeats Itself...
a collection of popular topics in the La Crosse community that tend to repeat over time. Examples include the disappearance of Evelyn Hartley, the Ten Commandments issue, and the proposed North-South corridor (road) through the marsh.

Historical collections of Murphy Library
have been digitized by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse's Murphy Library. Examples include The Catholic History of La Crosse and the Wisconsin Labor Advocate newspaper published in La Crosse.
