The La Crosse Public Library is currently seeking qualified, outgoing candidates for the part-time Library Assistant position in our Circulation Department. The position requires up to 75% of the time at the service desk, with the remainder of the time spent assisisting in departmental tasks or broader library services and programming. Applicants should possess fantastic customer service skills, including situation evaluation, listening, time management, fine wrangling, and kindness. Candidates should also own a keen sense of professionalism, flexibility, and adventure.
This is a 20-hour per week position, including evening hours plus rotating weekends. Flexibility in scheduling is essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, organizational skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and an uncanny ability to work with the public are required. A knack for empathy, negotiating, and collaboration are highly valued. High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid driver's license required.
Salary starts at Grade 11 or 18.13/hour. Internal candidates may apply for lateral transfer. Benefits include pro-rated sick, vacation and holiday hours. Electronic submissions are required.
