Ask a Librarian

We can provide brief answers to factual questions or suggest locations and sources to answer your question via our e-mail service.  We try to respond to e-mails within 24 hours.  If you need an answer sooner please call (608-789-7122) or visit your local library.

Ask us your question!

We will attempt to answer questions received via e-mail within the same guidelines that we apply to the questions received from walk-in and telephone customers.  Priority will be given to people in the Winding Rivers Library System area (Buffalo, Juneau, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Trempealeau and Vernon counties).  If you reside elsewhere, please contact your local public library for assistance unless your questions relate to the La Crosse area.   Send your genealogy or local history questions to Archives.

If you like to chat with a librarian try our new service "Ask Away". A librarian is available 24 hours a day. Ask?Away is a service provided by a consortium of reference librarians throughout the state, nationally, and globally.
