Summer Library Programs

The La Crosse Public Library offers summer programs for readers of all ages! Join us Summer 2017 for our Youth, Teen, and Adult summer programming. Join in the library fun at any of our three La Crosse Public Library locations.

Youth Library Program: "Build a Better World"
May 30-July 28

Children ages 0-11 are invited to read, play, and build with us this summer, all while making our community a better place! The theme of this year's Summer Library Program is "Build a Better World." Complete fun challenges at any of our three La Crosse Public Library locations to help us support the Coulee Region Humane Society. Sign up for our activity sheets (ages 0-3) and our reading challenge (preschoolers-5th graders) at the library or online with Beanstack

Registration for the summer library program begins on May 30. Sign up at any La Crosse Public Library location. Earn a free book at the end of the summer with your participation!

Join us at the Main Street library on Tuesday, June 6 from 2-4 PM for the Sumer Library Carnival, the official kick-off to the summer library program.

Teen Library Program
May 30-July 28

Teens entering grades 6-12 can join our teen summer reading program exlusively for middle and high school students.  Complete any five of ten different teen challenges to earn a free book. Complete your reading log to be entered into a drawing for $100 gift cards from Barnes & Noble, Marcus Theatres, and Target.  Sign up at any of the three La Crosse Public Library locations or participate online with Beanstack.

Join us every Thursday afternoon in June and July for Pizza Thursdays! We'll be offering free pizza and entertaining events including games, crafts, and trivia challenges. Pick up your teen program schedule at any La Crosse Public Library location.

Adult Library Program: "BINGO! You're a Winner!"
June 12-August 6

Join us all summer long to play Blackout Bingo and become a library winner in the 2017 Adult Summer Reading Program. Starting on June 12, pick up a bingo card at any of the three La Crosse Public Library locations or download the card and print at home. Have fun reading, watching and listening in a variety of categories. Complete all spaces on the bingo card and return it to the library by August 6 to become eligible for our grand prize drawing on August 14. Only two entries per person please.

La Crosse Comic Con (LC3)
July 21-23

Calling all Wonder Women, Iron Men, and Dr. Whozits! The La Crosse Comic Con (LC3) will be making its spectacular return to the La Crosse Public Library on July 21-23, 2017. Join the library and local community partners for this three day, FREE event celebrating everything we love about comic books and pop culture. We have an action-packed schedule with something for all ages, including open gaming sessions, stage combat workshops, costume contests, panel discussions, authors and artists, superhero storytime, food carts, and a full floor of vendors selling comic books and collectibles. Check back soon for our full schedule of events, including an announcement about our special guest artist.

Digital Photography Contest: "How I Spent My Summer Vacation"
June 14-September 5

Share your digital summer vacation photos in our first-annual, all-ages digital photography contest! Whether you'll be traveling the world, visiting local festivals, or just hanging out in your backyard, we want to see how you're spending your summer. Submit your digital photos to photos@lacrosselibrary.org

Summer Book Sales
June 5, July 10, August 7, August 19

The Friends of the Library will be holding special monthly Monday Book Sales all summer long! Browse the massive collection of used books, videos, records, magazines and more in our lower level book room. All items are $1 or less! All proceeds go to support the La Crosse Public Library.

Summer Book Sale Dates:
Monday, July 10 from 9 AM-1 PM
Monday, August 7 from 9 AM-1 PM

Save the date! Our next weekend book sale will be held on Saturday, August 19, from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM, with the preview night for members of the Friends of the Library to be held on Friday, August 18 from 5:30-8:00 PM.

Outdoor Food Carts at South
Wednesdays from 4-8 PM

You'll find the Ole's Pizza Company food truck and the Summer's Delights ice cream bike parked at the South Community Library (1307 16th Street South) every Wednesday night from 4-8 PM throughout the summer. 

Dine in at the library or call ahead for pick up. The Ole's Pizza Trailer features a limited menu, including a pizza of the day and their famous Taco Pizza.

Summer Storytimes
All summer long

Join us this summer for a wide variety of storytimes at all three of our La Crosse Public Library locations. Bouncing Babes Storytime (0-9 months), Little Movers Storytime (10-23 months), Terrific Twos Storytime (2 years), and Family Storytime (all ages) run from June 6-July 15. This summer we're also featuring special outdoor community storytimes at the Cameron Park Farmers Market and at La Crosse Public Pools.
