Event Details

Join Floyd Clown and Doug War Eagle, ancestors of Crazy Horse, with author and filmmaker William Matson for a talk about their book “Crazy Horse: The Lakota Warrior’s Life and Legacy.” Based on the oral history of the nearest living relatives to Crazy Horse, this new book presents the family tales and memories of the famous Lakota war leader and his legacy, differing in many ways from what has become the standard and widely accepted biography of Crazy Horse. Through the book, Crazy Horse’s descendants clarify historical inaccuracies and share their own story about the past, including what it means to them to be Lakota, the family genealogy, the life of Crazy Horse and his motivations, his death, and why they chose to keep quiet with their knowledge for so long before finally deciding to tell the truth as they know it.
