Fact or Fiction: Fake News, Alternative Facts, and Other False Information

Jeff Rand, Adult Services Librarian, will be visiting the First Presbyterian Church for a discussion on our daily information dilemma- is it real, or is it fake? The online world presents an ocean of information from countless sources of varying quality and authenticity.

During the free program, Jeff will provide some historical context on this problem. Then he will outline what is happening now with the spread of fake news and why it is happening, as well as what we all can do about it. Jeff will show you how to analyze and verify online information, and also how to diversify your information sources to acquire a broader perspective.
