The History of the Cuban Refugee Community of La Crosse

In 1980, 14,000 people arrived at a refugee compound at Fort McCoy. Some of these refugees--known as Marielitos--still live in the La Crosse community. This panel of Marielitos will explore the stories of refugees who began their journey in the U.S. here in the La Crosse area nearly 40 years ago.
