La Crosse Reads: Mr. Burns

Now that "the big one" has finally hit, how will civilization rekindle itself? By recalling a universal story, of course: a story that reflects humanity, with a cast of richly drawn characters - literally. When a group of suvivors re-tells a tale of an episode of "the Simpsons," it evolves into an epic production that would make Homer (the old Greek guy, not Bart's dad) proud. "MR BURNS, a post-electric play," written by Anne Washburn, is directed by Barry McKnight. The performance is co-sponsored by the La Crosse Public Library and La Crosse Reads. The La Crosse Reads pick this year is "Station Eleven," by Emily St. John Mandel, in which society attempts to recover from a pandemic  by turning to The arts as a connecting thread of humanity.
