Turn your experiences into great stories! This free workshop with Jen Rubin offers tools to help you find and craft your real-life stories.
Stories are what make us human. Through stories, we make each other laugh, find connections, and learn about experiences different from our own. Storytelling can amplify voices and break down barriers in our communities.
In this free virtual workshop, you will learn from experienced storyteller, Jen Rubin, and connect with people from the La Crosse and Port Washington communities with stories to share. Presented by Wisconsin Humanities in partnership with the La Crosse Public Library and the W. J. Niederkorn Library.
Jen Rubin is the executive producer of Love Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Humanities’ digital platform that uses storytelling and social media to build a more connected, compassionate, and engaged Wisconsin. Jen has led storytelling workshops with people in libraries, colleges, prisons, and workplaces. Participants will have the chance to explore stories in the ever-growing Love Wisconsin collection and break into small groups to practice building a narrative arc and harnessing the emotional power of real-life stories.
Wisconsin Humanities is a non-profit that has offered programs and made grants in every corner of the state since 1972. Love Wisconsin stories connect us to people we might otherwise not meet. We all share this big, beautiful state and we believe we ought to get to know one another.
