Event Details

Join us for this special event at the Cappella Performing Arts Center, featuring a talk by Kurt Dietrich and a jazz performance.

The evening will feature a talk by Kurt Dietrich, author of Wisconsin Riffs and Never Givin' Up: The Life and Music of Al Jarreau, and a live performance by a jazz quartet led by Karyn Quinn and Greg Balfany, who are featured in Wisconsin Riffs. Although New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago are often considered the epicenters of American jazz, Wisconsin has had a rich association with the genre since its inception in the early 1900s. Learn more about this fascinating history and enjoy an evening of great music! The event is free and open to the public with seating on a first-come, first-served basis, along with refreshments. Beverages will be available for purchase. Doors open at 6pm.

This event is sponsored by the La Crosse Public Library and presented as part of the Wisconsin Historical Society History Makers Tour. The tour is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Grant Number: MA-253159-OMS-23.
